Even though we're both blacks, decided these people with my skin tone differently to people with my skin tone. And that's because of colorism. Let's get smarter. And second, colorism is a social marginalization and systemic oppression of people with darker skin tones and the privileging of people with lighter skin tones. This is because lighter skinned people are not systemically marginalized for having lighter skin. You might get teased, but being bullied is not the same as being oppressed. And colorism means that medical devices are not designed to work on darker skintones. Medical imagery and models routinely erase darker skin tone. Darker skins. Black people are thirty percent more likely to be criminalized or incarcerated due to colors And because of colorism, darker skin, people of all races are less likely to be represented in TV, film and advertising.
